I
All this talk about equality
when nothing was equal from the start.

we attempt to strike a balance
and call it equality,
but in all respects it is only the pull and push
of puppets.

Among humans we share little
perhaps only life and death
and even then
some die young and others old
some horrid deaths and others “sweet”

I’ve never been more superior
than against my own demons

no matter the victories
the hoots and hollers
I stand before time like a deer
watching the light set fire
we were never stable creatures

but we know when to run.

III
We, academics
demand equality yet
scoff at the idea.

Look! Cultures clash
values clash
but hand in hand
by common humanity
we share the greatest love.

Look! how we bicker
with different paradigms
we have each other’s eyes
and crush them to the ground
but please
hush,
hand in hand
we have humanity:

Our common ground

red graphic

What is reality?
Your reality is not mine.
I saw the leaves you saw the trees
bound by a state of personal theories.

The ground is hard
can you disagree?
Of course     why not
you sink in the sand.

The sky is red
I painted the clouds blue,
crazy or delusional
spare me your conclusions.

the skies the limit–
whoever said that forgot to breathe
or dreamed like a madwoman
eating dust as if sugar.

I trace the seams of an old dress,
sad thing, a wash towel now,
only yesterday I wore it for men
Ha, they thought it was a towel!

The state I’m in does not listen
your rubbish remind me of moldy bread,
I could eat you and never understand
why you never said “hello.”

Have you gone bonkers?
I sure haven’t,
I throw spoons at blank walls,
better than a fearful old goon.

I crash into mailboxes
set wrappers on fire
you look as if I’m insane,
but hush, I’m more real than you.

road graphic

I always took the highway
never a second thought to Love,
Time never considered confusion a reason,
the world never yields.

Don’t bother me with flying red capes,
I have no interest in vexing bulls,
already they charge as if tomorrow
they will die alone.

I press the seeds to sleep,
water, light, what else to give?
cause I will not give my kiss,
grow it may or cease.

Your way gives me arrhythmia,
Doctor’s orders are clear:
depart or I will perish,
one of us must go.

There is a line in my life,
with many points of interest,
foolish Love, to think you’re one of them
has me howling with glee.

Scoot! sit, good boy, now stay,
I’ll tell you a secret even birds don’t know,
the highway never lasted for long, when
every morning it was kissed by the sun.

I stepped out of a meeting feeling
like a wingless bird,
I left my wings by the door
and never saw them out.
boundaries turn to edges,
I tilt and pebbles scamper
down uncharted chute,
left speechless frozen soul.
Faced with unwanted recognition,
I peer behind me twice,
as if a shadow of my choices will
muddle my footsteps.
Unforgiving blindness yet
I refuse the light,
to crawl around in murky darkness,
surely a reward in place.
I ponder where my hands are,
barely are they there,
my feet behind already lost,
no heart is needed here.

love graphic

I always thought love was for the weak,
never realized how fearless a lover could be
faced with predictions set panic to hearts
dreams of bullets set pulsing beats,
I’d jump in front of a train
for you,
has it ever occurred how reckless love is,
oil and fire never posed a threat
when that flutter wakes from inside,
never has the thunder sounded so calm,
and never has any tears ripped so much,
my heart dies
with you.

There are always those more qualified;
Joe next door
never licked a single shoe
unopened polish–
sold to you.

Life, always full of failed attempts,
remember Jill,
she ain’t alive like this–
unsealed butter
hardened by air.

Can’t even breath what isn’t yours,
leftover coins,
gobbled up like petty thieves,
what’s your alibi?
Fatal lapse.

The finish line beyond 20/20 sight,
squinty little eyes,
What do you see–can you see?
black cauldron burning,
bloody hell.

struggle graphic

We were bound by one common theme: Struggle
by nature, both rough unpolished stones,
Time and reality are allies,
they build upon broken steps    and they break again,
Have I broken too–
on my way down nonexistence.

Strange, if not fated, I’ve been torn,
Separated, I face the offspring of madness,
Her face, body,     soul,
I know her well:
little fox hidden under bushes,
the world scorns her,
cleverness a threat to them.

I scorn them back

Together, one after another,
I’ve learned to hate,
she learned to love,
If it be a friendship    or illegal affair,
then there is no glue,
no cure,
for this     separate
Entity.
