Am I not bound by a rope
Tied up with a string?
Or pulled down by an anchor
Ripples of Destiny.

How am I to know the fruitless
From bountiful seeds?
Simply dry or drained of water
From arid desert soil?

Arrows have neglected me
I only have two feet,
If swayed by the wrong current
I drown a worthless being.

Freedom isn’t a free path
Costs at every corner,
Penny dropped here and there
The end begins again.

the flower that blooms
and the flower that wilts
same culprit judges both.

From here the rays darken my skin
from there I’m red as Hell

we eat ourselves by not eating
his stomach swelled as he starved,
by what science can it be explained
we endanger ourselves

dressed in wool one smart brain,
her IQ far beyond the stars,
who could shoot her down?
only her,
and indeed I saw a falling star

Growth never accompanied without a few steps back

So said one drunk on norms,
through youthful wisdom on alcohol stench,
empty pockets came too late,
swimming in his own urine.

Remember facing a laptop eagerly waiting
decisions from authority,
brains are worth a lot these days,
price tags on the best.

Hands sifting through a sea of sand,
searching for the smoothest,
has sand ever been considered smooth
diamonds came as rugged souls.

I feel the hollow cheeks to my chin
wanting what others want
like constant battle against those people
you never saw but always heard.

Never knew I had to be told–
confirmed, approved, chosen–
Specialness a thing of words
not by my mouth but theirs.

Time ticks patience lower
anxiety attacks high,
open the inbox and pray to God
I am one of them.

When is now?

Tap the watch
it won’t go faster
Dreams are
denials
in the making.
Switch disposition–
still the same,
the edge gets closer,
will you jump
by the end?

Dead ambitions
are frozen dreams,
incarcerated bits
in little jars,
for all the ones
still standing tall,
fear to fail
frozen Hell.

Step out
grass needs mowing
birds need feeding
and the trees–
they need you breathing.
Will you heed
paralyzed by unmarked weight?
Die a tiny creature
loud insignificant babbles of
“ifs” and “buts”

Pause.

have you forgotten to breathe?
metal shards shred my lungs,
pressure-stuffed
I fall,
the clouds roll over
dark and cold,
your shadow pops my veins.

Press me to the ground,
it stings, it stings,
little punctures
in my skin,
I’ve forgotten to stand,
forgotten to dream,
pull me, push me

the river’s cold.

I float

I ponder
a lifetime
under your feet.

Fire-spitting lawyers,
snuff that flame–
the raucous
of all the wrong reasons,
be still, be silent,
court will blow,
and all of humanity
falls and crashes.

Drowned values by the shore,
the sand sweeps you up,
gritty surface,
you never were smooth–
every little bump
a pardon–
worst actions never meant much,
one thread of humanity,
one pure glance      and by that
we resent the circumstance
that placed you in such waters,
as to have you
drowned
in our
hands.

We suffer the inevitable:
confrontation with the soul–
were we ever ready?       good enough?
the mirror either hated,
or liked too much–
Look at us,
severed by the ins and outs
society never gave second chances,
we live as references,
someone, something bound to us
and never were we asked to sign.

deadbeats aren’t we?

those french fries
salted
golden crisp
we ain’t so golden now.

where’s the prism
behind the rain,
once colors glistened
now to gray.

We are indeed
the hollow men–
the hollow women,
the hollow kids.

matter without matter,
silent forms of
wasted flesh.

Spare me your politics,
a nickel never paid a meal,
our body needs feeding,
the mind dies
quickly,
if you’ve never held the globe,
I beg you–
retire,
hollow mistakes
never touched the brim.

Hope is a fool

we nod our heads in vain,
we walking shadows by day.
