love graphic

I always thought love was for the weak,
never realized how fearless a lover could be
faced with predictions set panic to hearts
dreams of bullets set pulsing beats,
I’d jump in front of a train
for you,
has it ever occurred how reckless love is,
oil and fire never posed a threat
when that flutter wakes from inside,
never has the thunder sounded so calm,
and never has any tears ripped so much,
my heart dies
with you.

train graphic

A mountain–ice-capped
snowstorm heavy,
We buzzed through on a empty train.
Turbulence,     constant
eery atmosphere,
peace in a holding cell.

We gripped our beds,
the white world shook,
we listened for the sound of life,
No footsteps      nothing,
alone on a journey–
a self-driven train.

Then came marshes, slimy and dank,
green rubbish, putrid
What lurks beneath ignites our fear,
Tall grass      endless horizon
I feel myself falling–
and clench my bed again.

Suddenly–ice–everywhere,
a virus cascading,
walls, floor, a sweep of frozen paint,
Our breath      cut off,
enclosed tighter and tighter,
desperation breaks.

I run for a door above,
they see and follow,
with bare hands pulled away the ice,
Opens       a pair of feet,
I scream, they pull me up,
where was I now?

A second-story to my surprise,
clean red seats,
voices–more people–where were they before?
warm      secured,
I confront the new faces–
All my family there.

I wake confused and dazed,
daylight already,
What an odd little dream–
a journey of weirdest fantasy,
Unsatisfied I close my eyes,
alas, the train was gone.

goodbye graphic

The rarest gift:
the hardest goodbye,
words matter little,
thoughts untold,
precious moments like this,
never complete,
the strongest heartache,
Is it worth enough?

I fade from the spotlight,
Your presence lingers,
I kiss the empty air,
Will you kiss me back?

Nine men and Death,
Guns loaded and ready–
I am unarmed,
will you still shoot?

Watchers stand nearby,
I bare my pale chest,
Will any one of you,
face the bullets     for me?

Plenty of money waits,
Checks stacked high,
I await a name     just one,
I may hand over to Death.

No one? Will you,
watch me die?
like this:     plump,
full of life?

I write in gold ink,
my checks are worthy,
even the Boatman of Hades
will free my soul.

They’ve raised their guns,
I kneel, implore,
Desperation trickles,
Death can smell.

Your Checks Reek:
They see you as
the face of a stranger,
Trust: as rare as diamonds.

I sputter blood,
Hell opens     I Fall,
must even the ground,
Have no mercy?

Mother of two,
saleswoman too,
best egg rolls in town,
said someone else, Not me
no never me,
I know the taste of another,
homemaker right here。
exclusive sales,
family only.

They don’t know,
they never know,
smoker on break
broken watch,
late again… fired again
angry hisses
broken glass,
few dozen calls,
voices carved into walls.

neighbor wakes,
barking dog,
big day tomorrow,
swollen eyes in the morn,
lemon water,
doesn’t do much good–
suited boss
dressed in BOSS,
full of threads,
a dozen webs,
leather suitcase,
must you look so proud?
coffee please?

Fussy Clients,
pockets too deep,
many “no’s”
where’s a hammer?
break the glass,
bruise the palm,
“Why fire my brother”
watch was broken,
“I gave that to him.”
egg rolls for discount,
“Mine is the best”
Deal is off…

My city,
my heart,
my blood,
Your name
forever mine.
Your breath–
sometimes sweet,
sometimes sharp–
pungent to my soul.
The sound of streets–
lit in the shadow of trees–
hum of late-night walkers,
wooden carts,
Bargains in the making,
Temptation for my soul.

My city,
I see
skyscrapers up high,
Towers of dreams,
wishes good night.
Night is on fire,
Life burns the match,
Smoke upon air
River of wisps–
beautiful scent,
beautiful bosom,
Land of my mother,
Land of my father,
My city,
my heart,
my blood.
